Four talented alien musicians are kidnapped by a record producer, disguised as humans and reprogrammed to forget their true identities and play helpless corporate pop as The Crescendolls. At one point, a soccer game is shown on a monitor. The teams playing are Japan and France. The two collaborators, Daft Punk and Leiji Matsumoto, are French and Japanese, respectively. This movie is magical, the soundtrack is amazing, you feel like you are lifted into the air, like you are “aerodynamic”. The story may seem quite simple, it is basically a “digital love story” where the hero has to be “harder, better, faster, stronger” to save the woman of his dreams and her music band (the Crescendolls) from evil. one Saving record producers. Leiji Matsumoto’s animation is just so beautiful; for example, the “night view” of a city on Earth (probably inspired by Tokyo) is breathtaking. But the real “superheroes” The main characters of this movie are Daft Punk. These guys understand that good music can lead to the high life. They know how to move us and reveal “something about us”. Let them take you on this cosmic journey, whether you travel with Voyager or not, you will find the “veridis quo”. It’s a “short circuit” (only 68 minutes, the length of a Discovery album), but in the end, when you come face to face with yourself, you can only feel that you want more than you had. It can never be “too long.”
